A Packed Load

For the last couple of Sundays, Charlie and I have split up the "bus route" (however, we use our 4x4 vehicles). I have been picking up the people from the area we hope to start a church. This has actually worked out very well. I have had an opportunity to get to know some of our people a little better. I have also had the opportunity to talk to them about the new church plant(hopefully in May). This is already beginning to create excitement.

The first week we split the bus route was a special day. Bro. Konnerup, our missions director, we here. He was preaching that morning. I made two trips and picked up 19 people. The car was packed each time. This past Sunday I picked up 18 (5 adults and 13 kids). We are hoping to start with a good group in May.

An Encouraging Visit

We had the privilege of having our Missions Director, Dr. Konnerup, here in Burkina for four days. Also, the director of Manna Worldwide, Bro. Bruce O'Neal, accompanied Bro. Konnerup. It was a great visit filled with encouragement and a lot of food (after all, we are Baptist and the one thing we do well is eat).

One of the most profitable aspects of the visit was talking with Bro. Bruce. We are planning on starting a Manna Feeding Center in the future. However, we weren't absolutely positive it would work here in the capital city. Secondly, we still needed to be approved by Manna. After much discussion and many questions, we are going to give it a go after we get our first church somewhat established. We are hoping to start sometime in early 2008. However, this is dependant on many factors. Pray that our first work will be at a stage that this will be possible. Seeing the poverty day in and day out makes us very excited to do something to meet some of the physical needs of these children.

He Keeps Them Coming

For those of you who read our newsletter, you know that we had that opportunity to invite Ibraim to church. We met him while we were looking at some land. It is funny how God brings people into our lives when we are not expecting it. Well, he has been there four weeks in a row. Praise the Lord. However, it gets better. Two weeks ago he brought three young ladies from his family as visitors. Last week, one of the young ladies returned and he brought another guest. I was greatly encouraged.

We are looking at starting our first work in his neighborhood. We have a few contacts through Bro. Charlie’s ministry. Continue to pray that God will allow us to meet people from that area. We are hoping to start the new work in May.
